Family of artists holds Chinese New Year exhibit at Mall of Asia
SM MALL OF ASIA welcomed the Year of the Snake with a celebration of traditional Chinese arts and crafts. The centerpiece was an exhibit of 234 artworks by the Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students, at the mall atrium. This was the first time the group had staged an exhibit using three different materials—Chinese paper, Chinese lanterns and Chinese fans. A special feature was a giant fan, four by eight feet in size, done by the family and students.
The Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students, is a group of artists and engineers bound together by common interests in the arts and sciences. They have been conducting numerous painting exhibits and seminars, art workshops and on-the-spot painting demonstrations for more than three decades.
Grace Christian College owners James Tan and Judith Tan, Chan Lim and Alex Lim of the Chan Lim Family of Arts and Students, and artist and painter Baby Ruth Chuaunsu graced the opening ceremonies. They were joined by Felicidad T. Sy and SM Prime Holdings president Hans T. Sy. The Grace Christian College Chinese Orchestra, under the tutelage of conductor Danny Chin, also performed well-loved Chinese selections during the opening event.
