Orchid and garden show

The Philippine Orchid Society (POS) is holding its Annual Orchid and Garden Show until March 11 featuring the best Philippine orchid species in bloom for the season.

It will be held at Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. The show is in celebration of the society’s 67th year. It aims to promote awareness and conservation of our local flora, which has contributed to the development of new and outstanding orchids worldwide.

POS president Vangie Go said, “The Philippines has been blessed with a high level of diversity when it comes to orchid resources. Of the 1,000 or so orchid species known, about 90 percent are purely endemic to our country.

“Filipinos should know more about these orchids as they are part of our heritage.”
