Vibal bags National Book Award for 'The Life and Art of Lee Aguinaldo'

VIBAL Foundation's biographical book, The Life and Art of Lee Aguinaldo, recently won the prestigious "Alfonso T. Ongpin Best Book on Art" award at the 31st National Book Awards. Organized by the National Book Development Board and the Manila Critics Circle, the prestigious event gives recognition to various publishers, authors, and editors for their meritorious work on published books in the Philippines. The Life and Art of Lee Aguinaldo is centered on Aguinaldo, one of the pioneers of Philippine abstract art. The biography was launched last Feb. 3 at the Ateneo de Manila Univer- sity, during a posthumous exhibit honoring the exuberant artist. Co-published with the Ateneo Art Gallery, it was written by Ma. Victoria Herrera, Clarissa Chikiamco, Cid Reyes and Rod ParasPerez. It is the fourth book in Vibal Foundation's Arte Filipino series, which hails the pillars of Philippine art.
