THE Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) gathered 1,665 units of blood during the recent bloodletting drive conducted in TIP Quezon City in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). Various PRC chapters such as Caloocan, Cavite, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pasay, Quezon City, Rizal, and Valenzuela as well as the Manila National Headquarters participated in this year's blood donation campaign. This annual humanitarian activity was started by the TIP founders, Engr. Demetrio Qurino Jr. and his wife Dr. Teresita Quirino, in 1962. It has become part of TIP's anniversary celebration tradition ever since. In addition, TIP forged a partnership with PRC by signing a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to promote voluntary blood donation in the entire TIP community. Present during the MOA signing were PRC secretary general Gwendolyn Pang and PRC chairman and CEO Richard Gordon.
