Globe report meets int’l standards

-

GLOBE Telecom maintained a B+ rating for its 2012 annual and sustainability report (ASR), which covers the economic, environment and social initiatives and operation of the company last year.

Globe reported a total of 66 performance indicators, representing an increase of 89 percent from the previous year, in pursuance of its commitment toward increasing transparency and responsiveness.

Themed “Faster”, the company’s 2012 ASR continues to put its customers first with the mission to change faster and enrich lives through communications.

“Globe is committed to its mission of transforming and enriching lives by means of communications. Its transformation programs that started in 2011 continued in 2012 with significant changes that will make customer experience even better,” Globe Telecom president and CEO Ernest Cu noted.

Covering Globe Telecom’s operations in the Philippines, including its corporate offices and network sites, the ASR seeks to align the com- pany’s approach toward sustainability reporting by following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G 3.1. The GRI G 3.1 framework is the most accepted international reporting standard applicable to corporations of any size, type or location. It sets the benchmark on which organizations will measure their economic, environmental and social performance.

According to Cu, the report presented the data and the metrics tracked by the different business units and enabling groups. “It is an important document for the company as it tracks key performance indicators of its business processes and programs related to the triple bottomline,” he said.

The ASR summarizes the significant impact of environmental, economic and social initiatives carried out by the company in 2012 and includes comparable data to identify progress and improvement areas.

Since credibility is a prerequisite for effective sustainability reporting and is considerably enhanced through independent external assurance, Globe again tapped TUV Rheinland, one of the leading certification body and assurance providers globally for the external assurance.

External assurance is synonymous to external audit in case of company certifications and external testing in case of product certifications. It helps protect the interest of stakeholders and provides a level of comfort to key decision makers, allowing them to know that the information they are using for their business decisions are not only reliable but also complies in all material aspects with the relevant reporting frameworks.

To make the 2012 ASR more accessible, Globe created a dedicated ASR website (http://www.globe.com.ph/annualreport), a fully interactive website featuring videos, feedback portion and updated digital design, for its stakeholders nationwide. Stakeholders may choose to access the digital version directly online or scan the Quick Response code via any smartphone or tablet located at the back cover of the report to proceed to the said website.
