LBC Foundation extends support for Gawad Kalinga program

-

LBC FOUNDATION, the CSR arm of LBC Express Inc., recently signed an agreement to formalize the foundation’s pledge to Gawad Kalinga in building 30 homes in Cateel, Davao. The homes will go to families affected by typhoon “Pablo” in 2012. In addition, LBC Foundation will also construct 30 homes in Barangay San Miguel, San Remigio, Cebu.

“The partnership with Gawad Kalinga is our way to give back to the community. We are a big business, but we also have a big heart for our fellow Filipinos. This partnership agreement is not just about looking good for the company but doing good work for the sake of the nation and we are in it for the long run,” says Fernando G. Araneta, president, LBC Express Inc.

Since tropical storm “Sendong” in 2011, LBC Express has been providing assistance to Gawad Kalinga through the shipment of disaster relief goods to affected victims. The company also provides additional funding and organizes corporate volunteer programs to help the recipients of Gawad Kalinga’s charitable projects.

Aside from building infrastructure, the agreement also includes LBC Foundation’s assistance on other projects that involve the protection of the environment, the establishment of a sustainable livelihood for the poor and development of the nation’s youth.

LBC and Gawad Kalinga have already built a total of 28 homes for 49 families in the first LBC village located at Holy Cross, Baluarte, Quezon City.

“Our goal is to help uplift hardship and restore dignity through the holistic approach that Gawad Kalinga undertakes. We believe in the foundation’s mission and vision of creating opportunities for our countrymen to survive disasters and giving them a chance to get back on their feet by providing sustainable assistance through the foundation’s efforts,” says LBC Foundation head Nena Wuthrich.
