IN LINE with the mission to bring the blessings of higher education within the reach of Filipinos, the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) recently conducted qualifying scholarship examinations for fresh high school graduates for the school year 20132014. Since the foundation of TIP in 1962, the institute has been allocating its resources to allow financially limited but deserving students access to quality education through scholarship grants. Interested applicants belong to the top 20 graduates of their high school batch, possess a general average grade of at least 85 percent with no grade in any subject below 83 percent, and have not taken any course in college. A total of 36 slots are allo- cated to the Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino Jr. Scholarship Grant and eight slots for the Dr. Teresita U. Quirino Scholarship Grant. Successful scholarship applicants will enjoy all throughout the duration of the program of study benefits like free tuition and miscellaneous fees, semestral stipend, free school uniforms, and free use of textbooks. Other TIP scholarship grants include grants for valedictorians, salutatorians, and third to tenth ranking high school graduates. TIP also gives scholarship grants for student assistants. Tuition fee discounts under the partial and academic scholarship program are also available for entering freshmen students, transferees, and currently enrolled students.
