Mayor Saratan elected Executive Vice President of the League of Cities of the Philippine­s

TALISAY CITY MAYOR ERIC M. Saratan, M.D. was elected as the new Executive Vice President of the League of Cities of the Philippine­s during its 60th General Assembly held at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Quezon City on July 19, 2013.

Aside from Saratan, mayors from all over the country who attended the assembly also elected Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista as President, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno as Chairman, Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III as Vice Chairman and Marikina City Mayor Del R. De Guzman as Secretary General.

The only mayor from Visayas who secured one of the top five positions in the League, Mayor Saratan expressed gratitude to his fellow city mayors for entrusting him one of the key posts in the League. Previously, he served as Focal Mayor for Health in 2007 and Regional Representa­tive for Region 6 in 2010.

Other Negros Occidental mayors who secured posts were La Carlota City Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer as Deputy PRO for Visayas, Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Ernesto G. Bascon as Regional Representa­tive for Region 6 and Cadiz City Mayor Patrick G. Escalante, M.D. as Focal Mayor for Health.

Other elected officers are Vice President for Luzon — Mayor Amadeo Gregorio E. Perez IV of Urdaneta City, Vice President for NCR — Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi of Muntinlupa City, Vice President for Visayas — Mayor Jonas C. Cortes of Mandaue City, Vice President for Mindanao — Mayor Evelyn T. Uy of Dipolog City, Treasurer — Mayor Ma. Isabelle G. Climaco-Salazar of Zamboanga City, Auditor — Mayor Marlyn B. Alonte-Naguiat of Biñan City and PRO — Mayor Belen T. Fernandez of Dagupan City.
