Also in Finale’s Upstairs Gallery and Video Room is Kelly Ramos’ “Breaking the Fourth Wall.” Ramos unveils a series of autobiographical works reflecting on the story and process of how paintings are created, constructing an entire narrative using painting and video installation. The photos feature the people of Isla Pulo, an impoverished community of roughly 1,000 people on the shores of Manila Bay. Exhibit runs until Nov. 3 Also in Ayala Museum is “Message Stick: Indigenous Identity in Urban Australia,” an exhibition of works by 11 indigenous artists living in urban areas throughout Australia.
The works are personal, provocative and map both a collective and individual journey for indigenous rights and cultural expression in contemporary society.
The exhibit is held in celebration of the Philippines’ Indigenous People’s Month and presented by the Australian Embassy and Ayala Museum. It is on view until Oct. 20.
