Tabora bags maiden Sletba Open crown

-

KRIZZIAH Tabora of TBAM-Prima-Philippine Team made the right adjustment in time to thwart her rivals and win the 17th Sta. Lucia East Tenpin Bowling Association (Sletba) Open in Cainta, Rizal, last Sunday.

Tabora had to dig deep from her talent pit to fend off Kenneth Chua, also of TBAM-Prima-PH team, and fellow national player Biboy Rivera to claim the title with a 12-game series of 2502.

Chua was 98 pins behind Tabora going into the last game, but picked up a 6-bagger while Tabora struggled with two open frames. Chua hit an open frame in the 7th and settled for a 256 and a 2482 total. Tabora scored a double in the last four frames to post a 170, but still finished 20 pins off Chua.

‘‘Itwas close but I kept my composure and did what my dad told me to do,’’ said Tabora, who won P50,000 plus a trophy. Rivera landed third with 2469.

Angel Tolentino of BALP posted 2029 in 10 games to rule the Graded Masters, followed by Mar Serac of TBAM-Prima (1977) and Dennis Ramirez of Sletba (1925).

Dr. Jun Villon of Sletba topped the Associate Masters, followed by Gelo Mendoza and Dafort Diokno, both of TBAM-Prima.

Susan San Diego and Nikki Ko of Sletba paced the Ladies field with 2164 and 2017, respectively. Angel Lazo of TBAM-Prima finished third with 2003.

Ed Santos of PBA topped the Seniors divisionwith a 2142 total, followed by Sletba’s Susan San Diego (2094) and Cora Barrientos (2068). Sletba’s Joe Judan and Mon Leon topped the Doubles event, while GMTBC’s Jun Villon, Boy Florencio and Rody Soriano ruled the Team event.
