September is another month to remember for Ford

- By Charles E. Buban

FORD Philippines in September achieved its best-ever monthly performance when it sold 1,231 units. This enabled the American automotive brand to reach a third-quarter sales of 3,330 units—a 46-percent sales growth regarded as an all-time best performance here in the Philippines.

With such an exceptional monthly sales as well as thirdquarter performance, Ford remained the country’s fastest growing automotive brand with year-to-date retail sales rising 70 percent, equivalent to 9,591 units.

“A healthy economy and strong consumer confidence are helping drive steady showroom traffic across the country,” said Kay Hart, Ford Philippines managing director. “This is helping introduce our brand to even more car buyers. Response to our full lineup of segment-leading vehicles has been exceptional and is helping drive record sales this year.”

Best-selling nameplate

Ford’s all- new Ranger continues to be the company’s best- selling nameplate, with 438 units sold just last month. This helped the all- new Ranger hit third- quarter sales of 1,209 units or a 172- percent year- over- year sales achievement.

Nearly matching the all-new Ranger’s sales performance is the all-new Focus. Thanks to the 310 units sold in September, third-quarter sales of the compact car jumped 167 percent.

Another exceptional performance came from the upgraded Ford Explorer lineup wherein demand helped third-quarter sales nearly double to 277 units with year-to-date sales now up 73 percent to 737 units.

Fullmonth of availability

In its first full month of availability, the new Fiesta delivered a retail sales of 315 units or a 54-percent improvement.

“The new Fiesta offers exactly what our young and trendy car buyers are looking for today in a small car— expressive, fun, smart, and with leading fuel economy,” said Hart. “It’s off to a great start, and we’re confident that the new Fiesta will keep on getting popular and be able to connect to even more customers with unique lifestyles and personalities.”

Featuring the global 1.5-liter Ti-VCT gasoline engine, the new Fiesta is available in a total of eight variants, including both five-door hatchback and fourdoor sedan configurations.

By the end of the year, Ford announced it will expand the Fiesta’s lineup to include the new Sport+ variant that will feature the fuel-efficient and internationally acclaimed 1liter Ford EcoBoost gasoline engine.

Also helping sales is the healthy demand for Ford’s SUVs. The Everest posted sales of 289 units in September alone, which is a year-to-date retail sales growth of 79 percent or 2,015 units.

Interestingly, Ford was able to sell 19 units of its iconic sports car, the Mustang. This enabled the company to sell 303 units since its launch.

Committed

As sales across its product lineup continue to grow, Ford said it remains committed to continuously enhance its customer and ownership experience by providing an unmatched customer experience across its expanding network of nationwide Ford dealerships. To prove this, Ford recently topped the 2013 JD Power Asia Pacific Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study for the Philippines.

Among the 10 brands in the study, Ford ranked highest overall, performing particularly well in five areas, including delivery process, delivery timing, paperwork, deal and dealer facility.

“We’re proud of our No. 1 ranking in JD Power’s SSI survey, which helps to underscore the progress we are making to deliver an unmatched customer service and ownership experience,” Hart said. “We will continue to make investments and further enhancements to help ensure that the quality of our customer service and experience is equal to the world-class quality of our Ford vehicles.”

Within the last 12 months, Ford has established dealerships in Cainta, Bohol, Butuan, General Santos, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Makati, Manila Bay, Naga and Tarlac. By the end of the year, Ford is expecting to open a dealership in Zamboanga, which will expand its network to 34 locations nationwide.
