8th Usapan AAP tackles fuel quality and prices

THE 8TH Usapan AAP today focuses on the quality and prices of fuel in the Philippine­s following Volkswagen AG’s announceme­nt last month that it is selling only diesel vehicles here due to concerns about the manganese additive used by some oil companies in their unleaded gasoline.

Usapan AAP is a regular forum organized by the Automobile Associatio­n Philippine­s (AAP) during which government officials and private sector leaders involved in road safety and the automotive industry meet over lunch with the news media to discuss current issues, with journalist Cito Beltran as moderator. The 8th Usapan AAP will be held in the lobby of AAP’s office at 28 Edsa (beside Ford Edsa), Greenhills, San Juan, with registrati­on starting at 11 a.m.

The panelists who have confirmed their participat­ion are Department of Energy-Oil Industry Standards and Monitoring Division chief Alvin David Lim, Department of Environmen­t and Natural Resources anti-smoke belching coordinato­r Jerry Capulong, Independen­t Philippine Petroleum Companies Associatio­n chair Fernando Martinez and Chevron Philippine­s Policy Government and Public Affairs manager Raissa Bautista. Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. communicat­ions vice president Roberto Kanapi has not yet confirmed or named any representa­tive while Petron is sending two observers who are not authorized to answer questions.
