Advance work for Skyway Stage 3 in smooth progress

-

FIVE days after the Skyway Stage 3 team closed the center island and two southbound inner lanes along Osmena Highway between F. Torres and Arellano Avenue to begin the advance work for the project, the flow of traffic along the highway has noticeably been light for most part of the day, except during the afternoon and evening rush hours when it becomes light to moderate but nonetheless manageable.

Project proponent Citra Central Expressway Corp. attributes this to the coordination, support and assistance extended by the city government of Manila, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

To make sure that all is well around the Skyway Stage 3 work site, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno has mobilized his traffic and parking bureau to patrol the stretch of Osmeña Highway especially at night. TRB executive director Edmund Reyes Jr. has assigned TRB project and safety officers to supervise the activities at the Stage 3 work site while MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino has designated traffic enforcers to assist the project’s traffic component 24/7 around and along Osmeña Highway and the suggested alternate routes. The Skyway Stage 3 team also thanked the motorists who heeded its request to be alert and drive carefully along Osmena Highway and considered the alternate routes offered to them. With public interest in mind, the media has been very vigilant and has been fair in its reporting of the situation at the work site.

As the project construction progresses, the Skyway Stage 3 team reiterates its call for public understanding and patience. Together with the TRB, the MMDA and the concerned local government, the team will do its best to keep traffic moving and the motorists, pedestrians and workers safe and minimize whatever inconvenience the project may cause.

Once the 14.8-kilometer Skyway Stage 3 project, which boasts of eight entry and exit points in strategic locations, is completed, motorists will reach Balintawak from Buendia in 20 minutes or less.
