International art competition set on Nov. 15
GLOBAL Art Philippines will host the 2014 Global Art International competition on Nov. 15 at the SM Aura Convention Hall.
There will be some 500 participants from Global Art campuses around the world including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), China, India, Hong Kong and the Philippines. These young artists will compete and showcase their artistic talents and skills based on this year’s theme, “Heal The World.”
Yenny Saw, country manager of Global Art Philippines, feels honored and privileged to be at the helm of this year’s competition noting that Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia have played host to the said event in the past years.
On Saturday, Global Art Philippines will simultaneously hold a competition among students from local branches—the winners of which will advance to the international level where they will vie for a slot among the best artists of Global Art worldwide.
The competition is aimed at encouraging kids to apply what they have learned but hewing to the theme, “Heal The World.”
Judges will choose winners based on these criteria: creativity, drawing skills and coloring techniques, and overall presentation.
A company founded in Malaysia in 1999 by Mr. Mahair Goh, Global Art has touched over 500,000 young artists’ minds and hearts in 15 countries. In the Philippines, Global Art accepts students as young as 3 years old and teaches them varying levels of skills using diverse media like color pencils, oil pastel, poster color, acrylic paint, watercolor, glass paint, ink pens and pencils.

Proj. 4 QC’s fiesta run
Project 4 in Quezon City is holding a fiesta run and Zumba street party on Nov. 30.
The fun run includes 3K and 5K categories, and will start in Brgy. Bagumbuhay at 6 a.m.
The Zumba party will be held simultaneously along JP Rizal Street.

San Fernando lantern festival
Robinsons Starmills in San Fernando, Pampanga, is the host and official venue of the City of San Fernando’s Giant Lantern Festival for the seventh consecutive year.
The event will be held on Dec. 13, 7 p.m., at the rear parking area of Robinsons Starmills.
The festival’s highlight is the competition among nine participating barangays, which will be showcasing their creativity and craftsmanship in lantern-making.
Exhibitions, which are open to the public, will be staged from Dec. 14 to Jan. 4, 2015, starting 6:30 p.m. at the rear parking area of the mall.
The festival has attracted over one million viewers during its competition proper and nightly exhibitions, also held at Robinsons Starmills.

Essay Writing Contest
Brown Movement for Cultural Advancement Inc. will hold its third Essay Writing Contest on Nov. 29, at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The competition is an on-the-spot writing contest centered on the theme, “Kultura Ko, Yaman Ko.”
