SM City San Mateo tenant's preview

-

SM City San Mateo, which is scheduled to open on May 15, 2015, gave some of the country's top retailers, food chains, and service centers a first look at the mall during a recent tenant's preview.

Located on a 22,882 square meter site along General Luna Avenue in Barangay Ampid 1, SM City San Mateo is SM Prime Holding's 52nd supermall, and its fourth in Rizal Province after SM City Taytay, SMCity Masinag, and SM City Angono. Strategically located near different government offices, churches, business institutions, and residential communities, it will serve customers in San Mateo and nearby cities and towns connected by the multi lane national road.

During the event, prospective tenants also got to know more about opportunities in San Mateo, which is filled with investment possibilities. The presence of major commercial and industrial establishments and the increasing number of residential subdivisions make San Mateo and attractive location to put up business.

Designed by DSGN Associates, the fourlevel 80,043 square meter mall creates a memorable identity on its primary highway frontage. A bold, continuous and dynamic feature wall acts as a vivid, colorful backdrop to a prominent entrance, well located for convenient access. The vertical BPO entrance tower, with its own, separate entrance, is accentuated with large expanses of glass. The colors of the design are bold and powerful, combining a shaded array of green hues with pixelated signage supports that extend to the road to provide coverage for pedestrians from rain and sun.

The main mall is elevated slightly from the main frontage road adding presence to its appearance above the surrounding traffic. The sidewalk frontage is designed with generous landscape, covered by functional canopies supported on playful, angled columns. A pedestrian bridge and passenger drop-off zone offer pedestrians direct access to the interior of the mall, while shoppers arriving in private cars are quickly guided from the main site entrance to the rear of the center. Once there, the multi-level carpark allows them direct access to retail shops and amenities on each floor of the center, as well as the BPO.

The interior design of SM City San Mateo is well organized around a simple, curved plan that is easy to shop and allows clear line-of-sight to all retailers and restaurants on all levels at all times. Carefully placed bridges provide convenient access to all portions of the mall, supplemented by a centrally located glass elevator, and escalators are located for optimal customer convenience. The color scheme of the main features bursts of bright color, daily from above by curvilinear skylights and a continuous clerestory for glare-free illumination. The interior of the BPO lobby features warm materials that create an inviting atmosphere for managers, employees, and visitors.

For customer convenience, SM City San Mateo has an additional two levels for parking. More than just bringing together great design and great retail, the mall will have disaster resilient features which include expansion joints for mitigating earthquake damage, as well as a rainwater catchment basin for the prevention of flood within its perimeter and the surrounding community.

SM City San Mateo will have the SM Store and SM Supermarket as major retail anchors, as well as SM mainstays like SM Appliance Center, ACE Hardware, and Watsons. It will have four state of the art cinemas and a food court.

San Mateo residents will also have a lot to look forward to with its tenant mix of major global and national retailers and food chains, as well as homegrown tenants. Among those present were representatives from top retailers like National Bookstore, Unica Hija, and Bayo; and major global and local food chains like Starbucks, Sbarro, Kyochon, Santiago Coffee, Inengs, Kingcorn, and Black Beard Seafood. Cyberzone locators like Globe were also present, as were representatives from services like Tony and Jackey, Kids at Play, Rodic's, Guanzon, and Smart Driving.

SM City San Mateo will be open to the public on May 15, 2015.
