Summer unites women-artists Ver, Campa and Baluyut

- By Lester G. Babiera Contributor

GALERIE Stephanie is mounting the unique three-woman exhibit “Efflorescent Eternity: At the Edge of Summer’s Memories,” featuring new works by painters Karina Baluyut, Isabel Campa and Camille Ver, showing the range and beauty of summer.

One of the finest rising young abstractionists, Ver is a graduate of the College of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines. As opposed to the common usage of controlled minimalism in abstraction, Ver prefers to use large swaths of brushworks; she experiments extensively with color and depth.

Campa first developed her skills in watercolor before venturing to the deeper hues of acrylic, giving her works a characteristic fluidity mixed with definitive vibrance and summer feel that are indicative of her mastery of the gentle yet hard-to-control medium. Campa is an interior designer who studied in San Francisco in California. A mother of four, she uses nurturing themes in her compositions. Her flair for patterns served her well in her training in watercolor under Carlos Ygoa.

She is particularly drawn to fluid forms and figures because of their delicate appeal and ability to flow with the medium.

Baluyut has developed a strong reputation as one of the finest abstractionists of her generation. An Architecture graduate of UP and a board topnotcher, her background in nonlinear abstractions architecture represents enables her examination of emotion, and its relation to color, shape and form.

Exhibit will open on May 19 at 6 p.m. at The Atrium of the Podium Mall, along ADB Avenue in Ortigas Center, and will run there until May 24. It will then transfer to Galerie Stephanie, May 25-June 1.

Galerie Stephanie is at Parc Plaza Building, 183 E. Ro- driguez Jr. Avenue (C-5), Libis, Quezon City. Call 7091488 or email inquiry.galeriestephanie@gmail.com.
