Short-term courses on laboratory management
THE CENTRO Escolar University-Professional and Continuing Education (CEU-PACE) in partnership with the Biological Sciences Department will be holding two rounds of shortterm courses on laboratory management for laboratory custodians and technicians. Course 1 is slated on May 26 to 27 at the Librada Avelino Hall Seminar Room 2, CEU Manila. Course 1 is intended to help the participants acquire skills to continuously provide efficient services to various laboratory users, update their knowledge in the maintenance and calibration of equipment, reflect on the duties and responsibilities of laboratory custodians or technicians, and apply good habits and practices. Resource speakers will be Dr. Teresa R. Perez, CEU VP for academic affairs; Dr. Zenaida D.R. Los Baños, head of the CEU Biological Sciences Department; Aleli V. Lozano, head of the Physical Sciences Department; Dr. Alicia Yu, assistant to the head of the Biological Sciences Department; and Rogelio S. Cruz, CEU technical assistant for professional research and facilities. Course 2 will be held on May 28 to 29 which aims to help the participants learn basic techniques in record keeping of laboratory stocks using ledger cards, perform basic microbial techniques in bacterial preservation, do preventive maintenance and calibration of basic laboratory equipment, and manifest good laboratory habits and practices.
