155,000 cops, PNP employees get bonuses

THE 155,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police will soon be receiving their P3-billion productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) for government employees.

The Department of Budget and Management has issued the special allotment release order and the notice of cash allocation to pay for the PNP’s PEI this year.

The PEI allotted for the PNP is P3,067,719,343-P3,060,328,039 for active personnel and P7,391,295 for retired personnel.

In a statement, the PNP said the PEI has been credited to their personnel’s individual ATM payroll accounts with the Land Bank of the Philippines as of Tuesday.

“The PNP officer corps and rank and file welcome this added incentive as a form of economic relief and a management tool to spur productivity,” said PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor.

Last May 15, President Aquino issued Executive Order 181 granting the PEI to government employees.

The PEI is equivalent to a month’s salary as of May 31 or a fixed rate of P 5,000 depending on the specific agency’s performance last year.

Agencies must comply with the requirements, including that of achieving at least 90 percent of their performance target for 2014.

Policemen facing administrative or criminal charges or those meted penalties this year won’t be receiving the PEI.

The PEI is given to employees from national government agencies; Congress; the judiciary; the Civil Service Commission; the Commission on Elections; Office of the Ombudsman; governmentowned and controlled corporations; local water districts; government financial institutions; and local government units.
