Duty Free Philippines Shortlisted in 2015 Frontier Awards

-

Duty Free Philippines (DFP), an attached agency of the country's Department of Tourism (DOT), will be vying for two highly coveted trophies in the 2015 Frontier Awards; considered as the "Oscars" of the travel-retail industry.

The organizers of the Frontier Awards recently informed DFP chief executive officer Lorenzo "Enchong" C. Formoso that DFP was shortlisted in two categories: the Land-based Border / Downtown Retailer of the Year and Marketing Campaign of the Year by a Retailer / Airport.

The winners in this year's Frontier Awards, a muchanticipated event in the travel-retail industry calendar, will be announced on October 21, 2015 during the week of the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, France.

DFP was shortlisted for the Land-based Border / Downtown Retailer of the Year category for its flagship store Duty Free Philippines Fiestamall - the top of mind destination for Pasalubong Shopping with the family in the country.

For the Marketing Campaign of the Year by a Retailer / Airport category, DFP's 2014 Christmas Season campaign featuring the DFP Shopperones was shortlisted. The campaign featured the iconic DFP shopping bags serving as personalized chaperones to each member of a family as they roamed through the Fiestamall in search for the perfect Pasalubong.

This is the fifth year running that DFP has been shortlisted in at least one category.

Last year, DFP bagged the trophy for "Outstanding Contribution to the Industry." This was the third Frontier award for DFPC in its 28 year history. The first two were for "Best Airport Retailer of the Year" for the NAIA Terminal 1 Departure Store (1989) and "Marketing Campaign of the Year" for the Travelite Program (1991).

DFP is hopeful that a fourth award and possibly even a fifth, is on its way this coming October.

Duty Free Philippines is an active participant in the government's tourism efforts. It contributes to the tourism sector through its earnings which are used for the DOT's programs and projects; and through the invaluable service it provides to tourists, Balikbayans and OFWs and their families in 17 Duty Free Philippines stores all over the country.
