Pasay Fire Victims Thank Pioneer & Cebuana Lhuillier for Quick Claims Settlement

-

Tragedy happens when you least expect it. For neighbors Emelita Galvez, Marivic Salvidar, Mary Jane Huit, and Vanessa Cachero of Barangay 65 in Pasay City, disaster struck one evening when a fire suddenly started in an adjacent house.

"Akala ko nagloloko lang 'yung kapitbahay nung may sumigaw na sunog, 'yun pala totooo na," said Emelita. The fire quickly spread since most of the houses were made of light materials. In less than an hour, more than 40 families were rendered homeless and had to seek shelter in a vacant lot.

No one was hurt in the blaze but the damage to property was enough for the fire victims to be disheartened, wondering how they would start their lives all over again, especially since most of them don't have sufficient savings or emergency funds to rebuild their houses or even repair partially damaged ones.

Thankfully, the housewives and eigh other fire victims were beneficiaries of Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions' (CLIS) Alagang Cebuana Plus, a micro-insurance that gives as much as P20,000 accidental death or dismemberment coverage and P5,000 fire assistance. For only P25, Alagang Cebuana Plus provides a fourmonth insurance coverage.

Within days of the fire, CLIS underwriter Pioneer, quickly processed the insurance claims and awarded P60,000 worth of fire assistance benefits to the Alagang Cebuana Plus members who were thankful for the immediate help.

"Nagpapasalamat ako sa Alagang Cebuana Plus at sa Pioneer sa kanilang tulong sa amin. Gagamitin ko ang pera sa pagpapagawa ng second floor ng bahay para mas maayos ang aming tinitirhan," said Emelita while Marivic shared that she will use the money to buy some home building materials.

Vanessa, on the other hand, said she will use the money to rebuild her sari-sari store which was damaged by the fire. "Yung nakuha kong pera mula sa Pioneer, ipambibili ko ng mga paninda para sa aking tindahan."

The housewives are glad that they purchased their Alagang Cebuana Plus coverages just a few months before the fire hit their neighborhood. Now, they are spreading the word about Alagang Cebuana Plus microinsurance to their neighbors.

"Sinasabi ko sa mga kapitbahay ko na kumuha na sila ng Alagang Cebuana Plus para may makuha silang pera kahit anong mangyari. Meron kasing mga nasunugan na hindi naman member," said Marivic.

"Para sa mga hindi pa nakakabili ng Alagang Cebuana Plus, sana bumili na sila para sa mga hindi inaasahang trahedya, at least merong makakatulong sa kanila," Mary Jane added.

Alagang Cebuana Plus microinsurance is sold in more than 1,800 Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshop branches nationwide. Pioneer has been serving the Filipino through insurance since 1954 and is a recognized market leader in the industry.
