Heartfelt portrayal

- By Andy Bais E-mail baisandy@yahoo.com Informative

TESS ACASIO, televiewer: “Ken Chan may be a relative newcomer, but his performance in ‘Destiny Rose’ is noteworthy. His gay portrayal is heartfelt and never over the top. It helps that he has soft facial features, and he knows how to use his eyes to make his characterization work. Manilyn Reynes also does well as his mother.”

Other notes:

Roanne Morales, student: “Thank goodness, ABS-CBN has made Angeline Quinto, Erik Santos and Jed Madela stop singing the theme songs of its teleseryes. No offense meant, but listening to their singing voices in tele

serye after teleserye was getting too much. “I’m glad that the people behind ‘On the Wings of Love’ chose Kyla to interpret the theme song of that TV series. She has one of the country’s most soulful voices.”

Jose Mari Maycacayan: “Informative and

humorous, ‘Todo-Todo Walang Preno,’ hosted by Ariel Ureta and Winnie Cordero, is the best program on AM radio. On television, Net25’s travel show, ‘Landmarks,’ and GMA7’s ‘Sarap Diva’ are commendable. And I miss the student quiz show, ‘Digital LG Quiz,’ which deserves to be revived.”

Kimberly Susano, insurance

agent: “The bad press that JM de Guzman has been getting isn’t helping his career. JM doesn’t need this. He should prove to his loyal followers that the reports aren’t true.”

Ernest Isip, restaurant employee: “When ‘ State of the Nation’ news anchor Jessica Soho recently tackled the negative effects of traffic congestion on motorists, resource person Randy Dellosa was interviewed to shed light on the issue—but the field reporter didn’t mention his name. — Not the proper way to treat a guest on TV.”
