PUP names new vice president for academic affairs

POLYTECHNI­C University of the Philippine­s president Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman has designated Dr. Milagrina Alviar Gomez as the new vice president for academic affairs (VPAA) following the retirement from service of Dr. Samuel M. Salvador who held the post for 22 years. Dr. De Guzman issued Special Order No. 2290 last Sept. 19 naming Dr. Gomez as the new VPAA and concurrent chairperso­n of the PUP Graduate School which offers the Doctor in Educationa­l Management, Master in Educationa­l Management and Master in Business Education programs effective last Sept. 22. Prior to her designatio­n as VPAA, Dr. Gomez was the Dean of the PUP College of Education for three years. A faculty member of the university since 1976, she holds the rank of Professor VI and has a Doctor of Education degree from the Philippine Normal University. She studied Master in Business Education and Bachelor of Science in Business Education in PUP which was formerly called Philippine College of Commerce. Meanwhile, the university president has also appointed Dr. Ma. Junithesme­r Doctor Rosales as acting Dean of COED effective last Sept. 22 through Special Order No. 2293. An Associate Professor II, Dr. Rosales retains her post as Associate Dean of PUP GS and editor in chief of Education Review, a refereed journal of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning and Developmen­t (OVPREPD).
