UE Caloocan students shine at 108th YMCA-Manila’s anniversary
FOUR college students, namely, Baby Anne Franco, Sharmaine Mae Broso, Mica Cristel Villanueva, and Timothy Nadurata, of the University of the EastCaloocan Campus emerged as winners in various contests at the 108th founding anniversary celebration of the Young Men’s Christian Association of Manila (YMCA-Manila) with the theme “Standing Firm on the Rock.” Franco, a 3rdyear BS Accounting Technology student, bested seven finalists to win the YMCA Voice Challenge. She is the first winner from UE Caloocan in this YMCA singing contest. Franco won first runner-up in the 2014 UE Pop Idol. Broso, a 5th-year BS Accountancy student and a first-timer in the YMCA Quiz Bee, won second place in the contest, college division. Villanueva, a 2nd-year Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising student, secured the second place in the On-the-Spot drawing in oil pastel, a poster making contest. Villanueva placed second in the same contest last year. Nadurata, a 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student, got the second prize in the Essay Writing contest, with his written essay titled “Anchored in our Rock: Building a Sustainable Future.” Each winner received a cash prize, plus a certificate of recognition, during the awarding ceremonies at the YMCA-Manila Auditorium last July 22.
