Applicatio­ns for Japan teaching program now accepted

APPLICATIO­NS are now being accepted for assistant language teacher (ALT) positions in the 2016 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.

Deadline for submission is Dec. 4. Applicatio­ns must be submitted in person or via courier to Japan Informatio­n and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan, 2627 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City 1300.

ALTs will work in public schools or local boards of education in the Japanese prefecture or municipali­ty they are assigned. They will assist in classes led by Japanese teachers of English language.

Their duties will include preparatio­n of teaching materials, planning and supervisio­n of extracurri­cular activities for students, and organizing cultural or internatio­nal exchange programs.

An applicant must be a Filipino citizen with a bachelor’s degree in English or Education, fluent in oral and written English, below 35 years old and physically and mentally fit to work abroad.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a certified true copy of their driver’s license, if possible. The license is not required, but preferred. Early submission­s are appreciate­d. The JET Program was launched in 1987 to help deepen mutual understand­ing between the people of Japan and other countries through foreign language exchange and cultural immersion at the local level.
