On roof of the world, refugees find shelter

-

RIKSGRANSEN—Far above Sweden’s Arctic Circle, two dozen refugees found that their Middle Eastern odyssey had ended at a hotel touted as the world’s most northerly ski resort. The hotel at Riksgransen, some 124 miles north of the Arctic Circle, offers food, shelter and security after a dangerous monthlong trip from the Middle East. But many refugees still yearn for their homeland. “There is no human being who does not dream about returning to his country,” said Wael al-Shater. “But when it comes to Syria, this is simply impossible. We are planning our future in Sweden.”
