US university welcomes PH high school students
FILIPINO high school students have the opportunity to enter University of New Hampshire (UNH), a leading public university in the United States, through an International University Transfer Program (IUTP).
Run by Navitas, the IUTP is equivalent to first year of a UNH bachelor’s degree program. It has bridging and orientation components that will allow a student who completes the IUTP academic requirements to move directly into the second year of his or her chosen degree program.
UNH offers several scholarship programs for academic year 2016, including the $10,000 academic excellence ambassador scholarship, $5,000 academic merit scholarship and the 10 percent early acceptance scholarship.
The academic excellence ambassador scholarship will be awarded to students with above-standard academic performance (3.5 grade point average or GPA and minimum score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System or IELTS, or 80 in Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL). Grantees will be required to perform ambassadorial duties while enrolled in the program.
The academic merit scholarship will be given to students with a high academic qualification (3.0 GPA and minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS or 70 in TOEFL).
The 10 percent early acceptance scholarship is for students of good caliber who secure their slots in UNH early. It is for students who accept the university’s offer. Those starting in the September intake must have paid the tuition deposit by May 31.
Applicants for all scholarship programs will undergo an interview with a Navitas officer.
UNH is the only university in New England to land on the top 10 in terms of Fulbright fellowships. It was ranked the 10th best entrepreneurial college by the Princeton Review.
