Fun run to cap UP Dentistry’s centennial fete
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines College of Dentistry (UPCD) celebrated its centennial in 2015 with a commitment by alumni and stakeholders to dedicate themselves to the greater good in the next 100 years as the nation’s premier dental education institution.
The year past saw two channels of activity, on the one hand, events for UPCD alumni like professional lectures and social gatherings; on the other, the launch of Smile Pilipinas, a multisector effort to improve oral wellness in the country.
In a fitting cap to the yearlong centennial celebration, UPCD will hold a Fun Run on Sunday, Jan. 17, from 5:30 a.m. to noon at the UP Diliman oval.
Open to everyone, a wide range of wellness activities will be held like a 2.5K and 5K Fun Run, zumba and a jamming session.
There will be live entertainment and the UP Vendors Co-op will serve up their famous street food and delicacies.
Smile Pilipinas stations will give free dental consultations and fluoride varnish will be given to the first 300 children aged to 12.
Fun Run proceeds will be for the benefit of Smile Pilipinas, which is supported by various companies led by principal partner Oral-B, technology partner 3M and strategy adviser Yeaps.
