STARTING a holistic healthy lifestyle is as easy as running a 1-kilometer stretch.

To encourage people who want to kickstart a healthy year, US-based direct-selling business brand Amway will bring back the 1-km category for amateur runners in the fourth edition of Nutrilite Health Run, to be held in three key cities in the Philippines.

“This year, we are bringing back 1K, where we first started … to encourage more people who may not have running experiences,” said Leni Olmedo, Amway Philippines country manager.

The regional initiative is expected to gather more than 20,000 runners in Manila, Cagayan de Oro and Davao. The run will first kick off in Manila, at the SM Mall of Asia complex grounds on Jan. 24, followed by Cagayan de Oro on Feb. 14 and Davao on Feb. 21.

Chris Everingham of the Philippine Volcanoes will lead the warm-up exercises for the Manila leg.

“We are hosting this annual event to encourage more people to put a premium on their personal wellness. We want more people to eat right, take in the right supplements and be active,” Olmedo said.

Besides the 1-km, there will be 5-km and 10-km categories. Registration will be open until Feb. 21 at any Amway distribution centers, and is priced at P350, which comes with a free Nutrilite Health Run shirt, race bib and car sticker.

Proceeds of the run will go to the Amway One By One campaign for Children, Amway’s social responsibility program.
