USL marks 51st anniversary, holds friendship meet
LAST Feb. 10 to 14, the University of Saint Louis (USL) held a two-old festivity hosting the 5th CICM Schools Friendship Meet, a gathering of all Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary or Congregatio Immaculati Cordis Mariae (CICM) schools nationwide, and the celebration of the university’s 51st anniversary cum the closing of its Golden Jubilee. Delegates from the different CICM schools, namely, Saint Louis College (San Fernando City, La Union), Saint Louis College-Cebu (Mandaue City), Saint Mary’s University (Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya), Saint Louis University (Baguio City), and University of Saint Louis (Tuguegarao City) competed in the friendship meet as they showcased their smarts, talents and sportsmanship in academic, sociocultural and sports events. The meet’s theme “Makkorofun, Makkarauffun,” two Ybanag terms for friendship and support, respectively, was meant to make the CICM schools’ students, teachers, coaches, parents, and administrators bolster fellowship and affinity with one another. Simultaneously, USL celebrated its Foundation Day last Feb. 11 to 14. Several events took place during the occasion including Cosplay, Couture and Body Art Contest, Trio La Diva Contest, Jump Street Competition, Cheer and Dance Competition, and Cultural Presentations. As a culminating highlight, the Valentine Festival of Lights was held last Feb. 14. USL students and employees, who were joined by the other CICM schools’ delegates, paraded around the Tuguegarao City proper on Valentine’s Day with their themed-lanterns.
