THE TEAMS of Rene Go-Jester Ong and Sammy Sy-Abe Rosal claimed top honors during the recent 27th Bill Shaw Golf Classic member-guest tournament of Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong.
Go and Ong combined for 52 points at the East course, then tallied 89 at the West for 141 points that gave them the overall net championship by three over the pairs of Danny FloresRicky delos Santos and Isaac Go-Louis Chan in the tourney which had Mercedes-Benz, Shell, Delta Airlines and Mizuno as co-presentors.
Sy and Rosal emerged the low-gross winner with their rounds of 40 and 75 for a 115 total in the event supported by The Glenlivet and Asiatraders Corp. (Honma) as Platinum sponsors and D & L Industries, Unioil Petroleum Philippines. as Diamond sponsors.
Six Mercedes-Benz cars with a combined value of about P20 million and staked as holein-one prizes in various holes went unclaimed by the 600 members and guest players. Staked at the West course were a Benz C200 Avantgarde (No. 3), CLA180 (No. 8), B200 (No. 11) and A200 (No.14). The cars on offer at the East were a C250AMG(No. 8) and GLA (No. 16).
Copping the division titles were Flores-Delos Santos who edged Go-Chan for the Group 1 plum in the countback after both finished with 138s; Butch Campos-Danny Samaniego who took the Group 2 crown, also via countback, over Michael-Joselito Gullas after posting similar 130s, Myra Caparros-Jocelyn Garcia in Group 3 after edging Chito MacapagalNilo dela Cruz, and Arsenio Bartolome-Willie Petino who carded 133 for a three-point win in Group 4 over Galo Lim and Antonio de Ubago.
Jungolf siblings Mikaela and Monique Arroyo dominated the sponsors division.
