11th Mercedes golf tees off

-

THE 11TH Mercedes Trophy Golf Invitational gets going tomorrow at Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club in Cabuyao, Laguna, with 216 players out to fight for the right to represent the country in the Asian finale.

Three division champions and their runnersup and one lady golfer will get tickets to the 2016 Mercedes Trophy Asian Finals in Australia.

This year’s battle is tipped to go the way it did in the past editions, the titles disputed in a competitive but friendly atmosphere.

This year’s event is backed by major sponsors Shell Helix Ultra, TWSteel, Makati Shangri-La, QBE Seaboard Insurance and PLDT Alpha.

The Mercedes Trophy Asian Finals will be held in Gold Coast with the aces to be flown in business class via Philippine Airlines.

A brand new Mercedes-Benz GLE 250d SUV worth over P5 million will be staked as hole-inone prize in the event also supported by Security Bank, Canon, Asia Brewery, Johnnie Walker and BusinessMirror.

Joey Magcalayo topped last year’s Division A with Manny Angeles placing second while Manolo Agojo and Ronald Paulo ruled Divisions B and C, respectively, with Steven Uy and Louie Banson as runners-up and Marissa Vergara copped the ladies crown.

Banson also went on to finish second in the World Finals in his category.
