Adele, Weeknd, Puth, Bowie nominated for Billboard awards

THE 2016 Billboard Music Awards will be aired live on May 23, 8 a.m., on RTL CBS Entertainm­ent HD.

Hip-hop artist Ludacris and singer Ciara announced the finalists for the “2016 Billboard Music Awards,” which honors the year’s most successful artists in 43 categories.

The show will be broadcast from Las Vegas. This year’s show will feature surprise performanc­es and collaborat­ions.

The hosts announced the finalists in six categories, including top artist, top Billboard 200 album and top hot 100 song.

The Weeknd leads the pack with nods in 16 categories. Justin Bieber follows with 11 categories. Fetty Wap and Drake have 10 each.

Adele and Taylor Swift are tied with eight nods each. Other returning winners from 2015, who are also finalists this year, include One Direction, Romeo Santos, Coldplay, DJ Snake and Carrie Underwood.

Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth are finalists in six categories, while the late David Bowie is honored posthumous­ly as a finalist for top rock album for his final release, “Blackstar.”
