P-Noy on top of problems, campaign, says Palace

- Christine O. Avendaño

PALACE officials yesterday defended President Aquino from critics who said he was remiss in addressing the problems brought on by El Niño.

Instead, the militant group Bayan had charged, Mr. Aquino chose to focus his time and energies on the campaign of Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas and other administration candidates.

Communication Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. assured the group the President’s priority was the wel- fare of the country and the people.

In a government radio interview, Coloma said the Cabinet had implemented the El Niño mitigation program to address the drought in the countryside.

“On the President’s joining the campaign, he believes its his responsibility to ensure that his reform programs will continue,” Coloma said.

“The President continues to perform his duties,” he added.
