Bernardo, pal vs UAAP shuttlers in MVP finals

CHRISTIAN Bernardo of Ateneo and Chanelle Lunod of MSI Jrs. bested Kyle Justine Legaspi and Elij Maridaine Pena of Jumpsmash Academy, 21-17, 2111, yesterday to barge into the mixed doubles Under-19 finals of the MVP National Juniors Badminton Championship Luzon leg at Robinsons Starmills in Pampanga. Bernardo and Lunod set up a title clash with FEU’s Estarco Bacalso and La Salle’s Jed Lynward Magat, who outlasted Team ABR’s Jewel Angelo Albo and Beatrice Felizardo, 23-25, 21-12, 21-14. Bernardo and Ateneo teammate Fides Bagasbas survived Whackers Badminton’s Jeno Carino and Kurt Vincent Maghirang, 21-19, 21-19, in the boys’ doubles and Lunod partnered with MSI’s Qianxi Orillaneda in downing ABR’s Mica Airah Ibong and Patricia Ann Roda, 21-9, 21-9, in the women’s doubles semifinals. Bagasbas and Bernardo will face UP-Allied’s John Matthew Bernardo and Michael Adrian Clemente while Orillaneda and Lunod will take on ABR’s Janelle Anne Andres and Beatrice Felizardo in the championship.
