5 rainy day must-haves for your dog

-

DON’T let the rains dampen your pets’ spirits. Dogs and the City shows you how to combat boredom and keep your furry friends safe and dry with these tips and top essentials.

“Dogs and the City offers different kinds of activities and games that provide indoor dogs lots of fun and entertainment. This eliminates boredom especially during rainy days; it also prevents negative behaviors like destructive chewing,” explains Haydee Chua of Dogs and the City.

“Staying indoors during rainy season affects a dog’s physical and psychological health. But activities should still continue even when there’s a downpour. You should also pay attention to feeding. When it is raining too much, dogs often develop food allergies. Make sure to consult your veterinarian regarding their diet,” she adds.

Still, if you and your furry friend want to brave the wet outdoors, “make your pet feel comfortable. A raincoat and nonslip shoes will make it easier for them to go around,” says Chua.

Head to Dogs and the City for these five rainy day essentials:

1. Rain boots

Rainproof, waterproof, antiskid. These boots come with a reflective Velcro design with nonslip soles that allows your dog to pursue outdoor activities ( P495).

2. Goodies Dental Chewers

Dental chew treats are ideal for keeping dogs busy. They also clean their teeth ( P380).

3. Raincoat

A must-have for the pampered pooch, these lightweight coats feature an adjustable protective hood and easy Velcro ( P495) closure.

4. Dog and Cat Tent

The perfect place to sleep during rainy days (P610).

5. Interactive Dog Training Toy

Stimulate your dog’s intelligence by encouraging him to get a treat inside a ball. The toy’s opening is small enough to provide dogs with a challenge but also big enough for a treat to fall out before your dog becomes frustrated (P675).
