Surplus is PRA's Fashion Apparel- Large Category awardee
Surplus, the one stop shop for fashionable finds and branded export overruns at affordable prices, received the award in the Fashion Apparel- Large Category during the recent Philippine Retailer's Association's 19th Outstanding Filipino Retailers & Shopping Centers of the Year Awards at the Grand Ballroom Marriott Hotel in Newport, Pasay City.
Surplus first opened at the SM City North EDSA Department Store in 1986, later opening its first stand- alone store in the same mall in 1990.
Surplus later gained its popularity among shoppers with its unique aim to give customers the lifestyle of wearing branded merchandise that fits their budget, by giving shoppers the exciting treasure-hunt shopping experience, and the option of mix-matching branded clothing that will make them come back, and shop for more.
Today, Surplus has 41 stores throughout the country, and true to its commitment as a value retailer, aims to Deliver Great Value to customers, through its combination of Brand, Fashion, Price and Quality.
Surplus carries a wide-range of authentic and affordable apparel that that includes basics like t-shirts, shorts, jackets, jeans, skirts, to trendy polo, knitted shirts, dresses, active wear, winter and outer wear among others. Surplus also has accessories and novelties/gift items.
During the same evening, other members of the SM Group also received awards. These included Pet Express, which was elevated to the Hall of Fame in the Specialty Retailer-Medium Category; as well as SM Hypermarket and Savemore which were also elevated in the Hall of Fame in the Hypermarket and Supermarket categories.
Uniqlo received the award in the Foreign Brand Retailer in the large category, while ACE Hardware received an award in the Foreign Brand Specialty Retail, Home Improvement category.
SM Megamall was elevated to the Hall of Fame in the Shopping Centers of the Year for the Large Category.
The Philippine Retailer's Association's annual search for the Outstanding Filipino Retailers seeks to recognize Filipino retailers who have epitomized the model of a successful retailer in terms of growth and good ethical business practices.
