Panasonic, investing in people for a better society
Panasonic Corporation (PC), through Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) and Panasonic Precision Devices Philippines Corporation (PPRDPH) continues to pursue its commitment to invest in people for a better life and a better society as it awards today the 2016 Panasonic scholarship grants to 22 technical-vocational students, prudently selected nationwide.
The scholarship certificates were presented to the recipients by Panasonic Corporation general manager for CSR & Citizenship Department Rika Fukuda, Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati rector Fr. Alexander Garces, PMPC president & Panasonic Scholarship (Philippines) chairman Shinichi Hayashi, PPRDPH president Muneyuki Oimatsu, PMPC executive directors Yoshiyuki Takahashi (Finance & Administration), Hiroshi Yamada (Engineering & CorPlan), and Masaru Toyota (Sales & Marketing).
Six of the recipients are students of Don Bosco Technical Institute - Makati: Jerome Rongcales, 19 years old from Catarman, Samar; Rumarey Rollon, 21 year old from Iligan City; Leo Mark Lomio, 19 years old from Naujan Oriental Mindoro; Neil Jayson Baral, 17 years old from Calaca, Batangas; Angel Lasheras, 17 years old from Nasugbu, Batangas; and Elmer Jhon Montiadora, 17 years old from Calaca, Batangas. Likewise, ten of the recipients are from Don Bosco Technical College - Mandaluyong: Allen Napalit, 22 years old; Mark Joseph Arreza, 20 years old; Mark Joseph Morales, 25 years old; Rosejean Gaan, 17 years old; Bryan Sebster Estrella, 17 years old; Jelann Metica, 18 years old; Edmar Sauza, 17 years old; Mike Sherwin Manuel, 20 years old; Marven Nacional; 20 years old; and Kevin Libosada, 20 years old. The remaining six are from Don Bosco College - Canlubang, all of them are from Calamba City, Laguna: Aldwin Kenneth Gonzales, 23 years old; Darwin Llano, 17 years old; Charlie Rey Magdaraog, 19 years old; John Christian Mamalayan, 18 years old; Justin Marcus Santiago, 17 years old; and Arkangel Sumilang, 18 years old.
In his welcome remarks, Fr. Garces extended his appreciation to the continuing endeavor of Panasonic to help in securing better future for the less privileged but deserving students, which is also Don Bosco's commitment.
Mr. Hayashi, for his part accented the determination of Panasonic Group to administer the scholarship program along with the Group's objective of contributing to the establishment of a strong foundation for the development of the next generation.
"In the Philippines, this localized program is committed to serve as a platform in cultivating new breed of leaders, who could contribute to Panasonic's commitment in leading a better life, to better our world," Mr. Hayashi said.
Miss Fukuda also reiterated that Panasonic Group's activities are being carried out along with the said basic thought of pursuing "A Better life, A Better World".
"Under such basic thought, we have focused our activities on 'environment and energy' and 'supporting the development of next generations'. Consequently, the Panasonic Scholarship Program in the Philippines was also established under that thought, as a way to express its appreciation to society and to foster the development of highly-educated experts, who can contribute to the progress of society," Miss Fukuda concluded.
Other executives from Panasonic Group, who were present at the event and fully supported the program included PMPC assistant directors Marlon Molano and Robert Pacheco, PPRDPH assistant director Mary Ann Diaz, PMPC refrigerator business division head Angelo Tamayo, and PMPC training & corporate communications team leader Lorenz Magsingit.
Panasonic Corporation funds the localized Panasonic Scholarship program in the Asian region. In the Philippines, the scholarship program, which is offered to undergraduate and vocational students is administered by PMPC with the support of PPRDPH.
