- Raquel P. Gomez

LENOVO Philippines has launched the Lenovo VIBE K series of smartphones, which include the flagship VIBE K5 Note, VIBE K5 Plus, and VIBE K5.

The new smartphones boast of aluminum metal casing to give them the premium look, fingerprint scanner, as well as hardware specs to handle all the entertainment and multimedia tasks.

One distinguishing feature of the new VIBE K series is the TheaterMax Experience, which was introduced first by Lenovo to its previous flagship the VIBE K4 Note.

Lenovo’s TheaterMax technology runs as a software in the phones. It allows videos played on the phone, any video for that matter, to be played in a split screen so viewing the video using the VR headset would be truly an immersive experience, according to Vincent dela Cruz, marketing manager, Lenovo Philippines smartphones.

Lenovo Philippines market- ing manager for smartphones Vincent dela Cruz and country manager Dino Romano presented the new VIBE K series smartphones.

“We at Lenovo have always envisioned bringing the consumers’ encounter with tomorrow’s technology to a higher level and letting them experience it today. With the introduction of the new Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus and the Lenovo VIBE K5 Note, with the exception of the Lenovo VIBE K5, we are supersizing everyone’s overall TheaterMax experience,” said Dino Romano, country manager, Lenovo Smartphone, Philippines.

The TheaterMax technology also gets an update with the arrival of the controller, which integrates with smartphones and the ANT VR Goggle for an immersive way to enjoy content.

Among the new K series, only the VIBE K5 Note and the VIBE K Plus come bundled with the VR headset and the controller.

The Philippines is becoming the fastest growing smartphone market in the region, according to IDC report.

A total of 3.5 million smartphones were shipped to the Philippines in the first quarter of 2016, majority of them are the affordable types according to the report.

Global brands such as Samsung and Asus are aggressively entering the lower priced smartphone bracket, while China-based vendors are also seeing steady growth and expansion of channel coverage.

The VIBE K5 series is now available at all authorized Lenovo dealers nationwide. The suggested retail price of VIBE K5 Note is P11,999, VIBE K5 Plus, P8,999, and VIBE K5, P6,999.
