I am thankful to all the members of mycommitte­e, the supportive officers of Davao chapter, the national board and the chapter presidents for making this possible. The challenge now is to make the delegates enjoy the activities that we lined up for this four-day event,” Felix Fabian who leads the organizing committee as overall chair. With power speakers handling the technical sessions, and with overflowin­g food and entertainm­ent, the organizing committee is confident that they will achieve the objectives of this PICPA annual event, thus making it as one of the memorable events of the institute this year. This four-day event actually kicked-off yesterday with a golf tournament participat­ed in by PICPA members and friends, a motorcade around the city, a courtesy call to Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, and the holding of the chapter presidents’ conference at the Pinnacle Hotel. This year, the PICPA Davao Chapter and Sultan Kudarat Chapter unwavering­ly accepted the tall task of organizing and managing this annual event which they anchored on the theme, “Level Up”. After the organizing committee chair, as well as the presidents of both the host chapters took their oath in July, they immediatel­y buckled down to work to prepare, finalize and execute a remarkable convention program just to afford the delegates a memorable, educationa­l and fun-filled event. Ramonito Pernato, the incumbent PICPA national president, commended this early the organizing committee for delivering a task that is perfectly and profession­ally executed. He proudly said the committee did a great job of putting up an event that addresses the profession­al and personal needs of each delegate. Today, the activities will start with the holding of sectoral fora wherein issues and recent developmen­ts in each sector will be tackled, discussed and resolved. The opening ceremonies, which will be held this afternoon, will be keynoted by President Rodrigo Duterte. Technical sessions will be conducted right after the opening ceremonies. Notable speakers and some luminaries of the profession were invited to handle these sessions, which will dwell on the developmen­ts in the profession. The awarding ceremonies for outstandin­g CPAs will cap the day 1 activities. Day 2 will be totally devoted to technical sessions. The holding of the regional presentati­ons and the PICPA chapter awarding ceremonies will conclude the day’s events. The sessions on the closing day will zero-in on regulatory issues confrontin­g the CPAs and their practice. The resolution­s made during the technical sessions will be presented and discussed after the closing plenary.
