2017 ‘Kristo’ exhibit raises funds for shelter for poor

“Art & Soul: Kristo Manila,” the exhibition that has been giving viewers a chance at Lenten meditation through the visual arts, once again offers a Holy Week presentati­on titled “Lamb of God.”

Now on its 12th year, “Art and Soul: Kristo Manila 2017” is again supported by the Subcommiss­ion on Cultural Heritage of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in efforts to promote the fading tradition of Philippine ecclesiast­ical art.

Curated by Jaime “Jay” Pacena II, among the participat­ing artists are Anton Balao, Jojo Ballo, Rey Bautista, Tyrone Baricuatro, Grandier Bella, Xander Calceta, Frank Caña, Dante Capuz, Jef Carnay, Salvador Ching, Robert Deniega, Ferdinand Doctolero, Egai Fernandez, Iana Forbes, Juan Sajid Imao, Cathy Lasam, Tito Loreto, Dante Lerma, Roel Obemio, Wilfredo Offemaria Jr., Justine Olivarez, Sam Penaso, Jill Arwen Posadas, Analuz Reynales, Tres Roman, Mariano Sayno, Rex Tatlonghar­i, Palma Tayona and Marmelo Valencia.

The fund-raising exhibition is for the benefit of St. Arnold Janssen Kalinga Center, a feeding and hygiene center for the poor. Named after the German saint and Society of the Divine Word founder, the center is headed by Fr. Flavie Villanueva, mission secretary and coordinato­r of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation for the Philippine Central Province of the SVD.

“Lamb of God” is copresente­d by Artery Manila and is on view at Canvas Gallery and Garden, 1 Upsilon Drive Ext. and Zuzuaregi Sts., Alpha Village, Diliman, Quezon City.
