ART EXHIBIT TO HIGHLIGHT SPANISH INFLUENCE ON FILIPINO CULTURE
The Spanish influence on Filipino culture will be highlighted in “El Museo del Prado en Filipinas,” an art exhibit of 53 photographic replicas of masterpieces from Spain’s Museo Del Prado.
A joint project of the Intramuros Administration (IA) and Embassy of Spain in Manila, the exhibit will run from June to August.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo said the exhibit will transform Intramuros streets into “public art spaces.” Among the artworks is a photo replica of Juan Luna’s “La Muerte de Cleopatra”—a painting that the renowned Filipino artist entered in a contest in Madrid which won a silver medal.
The exhibit will be launched April 22 at Ayala Triangle, Makati, coinciding with the celebration of “Día del Libro” (World Book Day).
