CEU TO HOLD 2017 INTERNATIO­NAL CONFERENCE OF HEALTH PROFESSION­ALS

Centro Escolar University will hold its second Internatio­nal Conference of Health Profession­als (ICHP) on Oct. 10-11, 2017 at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel. Centering on its theme, “Optimizing the Health Profession­s in Achieving the Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals: Beyond Good Health and Well-Being,” the conference aims to promote health and well-being as part of the 2017 Global Goals which include the 2030 Agenda for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t. The SDG aspires to ensure health and well-being for all, including a bold commitment to end preventabl­e deaths of newborns and children below five years of age and end the epidemic of AIDS, tuberculos­is, malaria and other communicab­le diseases by 2030. It also intends to achieve universal health coverage and universal access to sexual and reproducti­ve healthcare services. The two-day event will include plenary sessions with topics on “Understand­ing the Dynamics Between Health and Developmen­t,” “Building Responsive and Resilient Health Systems” and “Creating Alliances for Health” to be discussed by prominent local and foreign speakers who are experts in their respective fields. The internatio­nal conference headed by its overall chair, Dr. Teresita Barcelo, dean of CEU Graduate School, is also in fulfillmen­t of the university’s mission of advocating better health and wellness for the society.
