Tricycle driver’s son tops Physician licensure exam

Karl Emmanuel Mercader of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta-Jonelta School of Medicine topped the 2017 Physician Board Examinatio­n held last March and administer­ed in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Zamboanga. Mercader, the third of five siblings of tricycle driver 71-year-old Perfecto Mercader, got 88.58 percent to top the board exam for Perpetual out of 1,317 examinees. He is the 1st place among 813 passers as announced by PRC last March 16. Mercader, a member of Batch 2015 took his internship in the University of Perpetual Help Medical Center. Alvin Villas of Fatima University ranked 2nd with a score of 87.17 percent and Nigel Cunanan of University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay placed 3rd with a grade of 87.08 percent. UP-Manila got 100-percent passing rate, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta has 88.89-percent passing rate, and Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation got 88.20-percent passing rate.
