PNU HOLDS GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING

-

The Philippine Normal University Alumni Association (PNUAA) will hold its grand alumni homecoming on April 30 at 3:00 p.m., at the Taft Avenue Campus Quadrangle.

The celebration, with this year’s theme, “PNUAA: Pathways to a Great Country,” will be highlighted by the recognition of 10 outstanding alumni, four outstanding couple alumni and awardees from the different alumni association chapters across the country.

PNUAA president Lutgardo B. Barbo invites all graduates of Philippine Normal School/Col- lege/University to attend the homecoming.

“Let us once again commemorate the greatness of our alma mater. As alumni of the premier teacher-training institution, we’ve done so much for our youth and for our country. By coming together in this occasion, we will be able to consolidate our efforts and do more in making the Philippines a great country,” Barbo said.

The normal school, which was established by American Thomasites in 1901, is the oldest teacher-training institution.

The mothers of Philippine Presidents Ferdinand Marcos and Rodrigo Duterte, namely Josefa Edralin and Soledad Roa, respectively, were alumni of the school. The mother of former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel “Nene” Q. Pimentel Jr., Petra Quilingquing also studied in PNU.

Barbo, the present Senate secretary, is also an alumnus of the school and became PNU president from 2006 to 2010.

Registration will start at 12 noon and the program will begin with a Holy Mass at 3:00 p.m.
