‘Primetime’: A glimpse into the world of nonsurgical aesthetic treatments
SpectruMed, the country’s pioneering provider of aesthetic lasers and medical devices, has launched a state-of-the-art machine for body contouring and other beauty enhancements
As the country’s trailblazing distributor of aesthetic lasers and medical devices, SpectruMed offers the most advance equipment that sculpts, tones and smoothens the face and body without surgery.
Its commitment to the growth of aesthetic medicine in the Philippines has helped doctors practice more efficiently with comfort and safety.
Top practitioners in the medical aesthetics field came in full force to attend “Primetime,” a SpectruMed event held recently at Manila House.
“Primetime” is derived from Accent Prime, the state-of-the-art terminal for body contouring and other beauty enhancements which was launched by guest lecturer Dr. Pablo Naranjo, vice president of the Spanish Medical Association of Aesthetic Laser.
The event—which included a glimpse into SpectruMed’s history and various testimonials from clients—had a program that simulated a TV talk show, conducted by host and motivational speaker Anthony Pangilinan.
Doron Glazer, chair of SpectruMed, and his wife Cherryl Morano-Glazer, president and CEO, continuously update with the latest technology using lasers (acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) and radiofrequency (electromagnetic radio waves) for aesthetic medicine. These machines are backed up with clinical studies on their efficacy.
During the program, Pangilinan noted: “They were able to recognize the next hot product which was always adapted by the leading centers in the Philippines.”
“Back then, wewere the only ones in the Philippines who brought these technologies to Manila,” said Glazer. These machines did everything—lifting facial sags, toning flabby areas, lightening dark spots, clearing up acne, hair and tattoo removal, among others.
Today, even gynecologists and obstetricians have been buying laser systems to augment their regular practice.
SpectruMed introduced the FemiLift, a laser treatment for incontinence, menopausal dryness and vaginal rejuvenation.
SpectruMed Laser Academy
Since doctors saw laser systems as essential to modern aesthetic practice, the company set up the SpectruMed Laser Academy to educate them on how to use the machines, coupled with patient care, basics of laser application and laser physics.
“We not only sell boxes but also help the doctors especially with the clinical training,” said Glazer.
Cherryl added: “This will be a hub for all the laser experts and laser users. They can share their experiences on a certain product, and this will be headed by an international speaker.”
As a bonus, SpectruMed’s clinical staff support assists doctors in hiring qualified nurses for their clinics to provide the best service.
Cherryl said that the clinical staff support and laser education will enable nursing graduates to pursue a career in the aesthetic industry.
Alternative to surgery
The event also presented objective views about the differences in results between surgery and noninvasive treatments. Pangilinan conducted a panel discussion with prominent doctors —Dr. Eloisa Buse of Belo Medical Group, Dr. Kristine Castañeda of Radiance Aesthetic Center and Dr. Z Teo of The Aivee Institute. The lone provincial representative, Dr. Neil Oropeza of Oroderm, is one of the well-respected dermatologic surgeons in the country who is based in Davao. (His clinic serves as a show room for SpectruMed’s advance laser systems for the market in Visayas and Mindanao.) The doctors underscored the importance of patient selection, a holistic approach to weight management, and managing patients’ expectations in nonsurgical procedures.
In the end, loyal client-doctors expressed their appreciation of SpectruMed.
The Aivee Institute CEO Dr. Z Teo said: “When it comes to working with a company, I usually look for three things: knowledge, passion and de- pendability. On dependability, I can rely on the company that will help my clinics with the machines. On knowledge, I need to be assured that they know what they are doing, what the product is all about. Passion is very important because you can do something well. SpectruMed has all these attributes and we are very happy working with them.”
Through SpectruMed, Aivee Institute made headway with Artas Robotic Hair Transplant, the FDA-approved technology that harvests hairs and transplants them in thinning areas with no scarring.
Dr. Teo told Inquirer that SpectruMed has the upper hand in technical support. The Singaporean surgeon-businessman explained that the fluctuating or imbalanced electrical output in the Philippines affects the software of the equipment. “SpectruMed immediately sends a technical support team when there’s a problem. They are able to turn things around. ”
Dr. Vermen Verallo-Rowell, chair of the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc., said she considered the Glazers as family.
Laser and dermatologic surgeon Giovanni Dimayuga revealed, “My best advice (to patients) is under-promise and over-delivery. The same with SpectruMed: they don’t say much but they deliver two times more than what they promised.”
Dermatologist Jojo Rivera said: “I’m so happy that the former training center jump-started the SpectruMed Laser Academy. SpectruMed is pursuing the track of excellence and integrity in its work.”
Beauty heiress Cristalle Pitt of the Belo Medical Group added: “Now lasers have gone so far in this industry and a lot of it is because of Cherryl, Doron and SpectruMed. They really take care of us. Welove the service. Welove having them as business partners.”
