The automotive industry is full of examples of innovations that went nowhere until someone worked out how to turn these into something customers are willing to pay money for.

Take the four-wheel drive, a technology that was first introduced in 1903 on a Dutch sports car called a Spyker. However, for much of the 20th century it remained a technology largely restricted to tractors, military vehicles and occasional oddities from smallscale manufacturers. Then in 1934, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries—the company which would eventually sire Mitsubishi Motors—came up with the PX-33, the first Japanesebuilt sedan to have full-time four-wheel drive.

The technology employed in the PX-33 would later become the inspiration in the development of the Pajero, Mitsubishi’s most famous SUV, which was first unveiled in 1973. Brimming with technologies that make it very successful in the Paris-Dakar Rally (from Paris, France, to Dakar, Senegal), the Pajero took first prize in the 1985 Paris Dakar Rally, the first of an unmatched total of 12 Dakar Rally wins. Over the years, the Pajero has become Mitsubishi’s most iconic SUV, embodying the stylish dependability that the brand stands for.

How fascinating it is to learn all these while gazing at the actual vehicles just inches away. at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. We promise the public, Mitsubishi fans, and car enthusiasts that they will have an exciting time as we bring a one-of-a-kind and truly memorable experience from all the cars presented here,” said MMPC Ad and Promo senior manager Arlan Reyes.

Reyes informed that a number of the cars displayed at the Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Promo were actual vehicles on display at the Mitsubishi Auto Gallery located at Okazaki, Japan.

Vehicles on display include the PX-33, the 1937 Race (Circuit Car), a Pajero #189, which is the 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally winner, the 2005 WRC Lancer and the Outlander PHEV that won the 2015 Baja Rally.

“From the ’70s up to the end of the 20th century, Mitsubishi automobiles not only provided solutions for conserving energy and resources but also classleading vehicles—performance cars and SUVs—that enhance driving pleasure,” said Reyes.

The expo also serves as a perfect venue for those planning to purchase a brand new Mitsubishi vehicle as MMPC will display its current vehicle line-up including Fuso trucks and buses.

Interested buyers may even test drive the new Montero Sport, Strada, Pajero and Mirage. MMPC also included on the list available for test drive are Mitsubishi’s pure electric vehicles like the iMiEV and the Outlander Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV). Interestingly, those who missed last year’s series of Montero Sport headto-head test drive will have a chance to test and compare the Montero Sport with its competitors (10am to 6pm only). Another P10,000 discount coupon will be given to buyers who will test drive the units available at the expo grounds.

In addition, MMPC will also provide as much as P30,000 additional incentive to the appraised value (of the trade partner), for those who will trade in their Mitsubishi vehicle to purchase a brand new one during the expo. This trade-in offer is also available for non-Mitsubishi owners also planning to purchase a brand new Mitsubishi during the expo.

Additionally, for those who will make a reservation at the expo for any Mitsubishi vehicle until June 11, will have a chance to enjoy as much as P50,000 at the Lucky Drop Pachinko game (this promo is exclusive for those who will reserve a vehicle at the expo).
