Real role models in show biz needed

- NESTOR U. TORRE

All too often, stars resolutely declare that they’re in show biz not just to become famous and wantonly wealthy, but to serve as “role models” for the viewing public.

Sadly, however, their “inspirational” motivation quickly turns out be a hollow dud that lands with a thud, because they don’t motivate their fans to be the best they can be.

Even stars and starlets who go the “charitable” route and throw food fests for poor or sick people on their natal days don’t inspire viewers to do the same.

The mere fact that the parties for the poor and infirm are being publicized in the media is a dead giveaway that the celebrity involved is benefiting from the coverage: It “proves” that he or she has a golden heart that aches for the needy, so the star’s “image” is boosted by the charitable acts.

That’s why we urge stars who don’t want their motives to be questioned to make sure that their “selfless” birthday parties get absolutely no media coverage at all—but, all too few have done as we’ve earnestly suggested.

Other luminaries profess to be real role models for the viewing and emulating public by proclaiming that they’re giddily happy with their love and marital lives, and then sharing why their marriages are so wonderful, to “teach” viewers how to be similarly, beatifically blessed!

Alas, after only a few years, their “perfect” love unions end up in separation or annulment court—so much for their “expert” advice!

That’s why we urge celebrity lovers to keep their mouths shut about their romances, because many of them turn out to be of all too brief and sour vintage.

But, the stars can’t be circumspect about it, because their personal affairs are grist for their career mills, and fans insist on knowing what’s what, every step of the way!

These days, just about the only show biz star who’s a real, trueblue role model is Raymond Gutierrez—for the simple, but impressive reason that he’s lost more than 60 lbs. in his eminently successful physical-makeover campaign, and has a new and great body to prove it!

Many other overweight stars say they’re trying to lose weight for months or even years—but, after they’ve shed 20 or so pounds, their willpower wavers, and they start gaining it all back!

Not Raymond: Against all odds, he’s stuck to his guns and kept the excess poundage off, transforming his life and motivating many others to do the same! Now, that’s a real role model, and Raymond fully de- serves the praise and career boost he’s currently enjoying.

As for all those overweight celebrity procrastinators out there, the viewing public has ceased believing your tired, old and stout protestations.

So, you can stop pulling our legs and be as fat and squat as you want—as you watch your stellar careers crash and burn.
