HOW does Jeff Horn plan to beat Manny Pacquiao?

- RECAH TRINIDAD

The imaginative trainer of unbeaten Australian boxer Jeff Horn (16-0-1) says his fighter would get Manny Pacquiao with something the fighting Filipino senator has not seen or felt before.

Trainer Glenn Rushton claims he has invented a technique that would surely shock Pacquiao.

“It’s a broken rhythm pressure that will be used by Horn,” explains Rushton.

———— Truly fantastic: “Pacquiao will get a shock when Horn starts hitting hard from all angles; Jeff throws punches from everywhere,” says Rushton.

He adds: “[Jeff] can throw right hand leads fast as jabs, he can turn southpaw quickly to throw opponents off.”

He says the pressure technique he has invented upsets the rhythm of opponents.

Great. That, more or less, should vouch for a firefight, although Rushton has failed to specify if Horn also plans to play invisible, or turn untouch- able, come fight time.

Does Rushton also expect Pacquiao to freeze once Horn starts wielding his fantastic weaponry?

———— Meanwhile, out in General Santos City, Pacquiao has been reported to be 90 percent ready for the July 2 world welterweight boxing championship in Brisbane.

“Manny gets faster and stronger every day with less than three weeks to the fight,” assistant trainer Jonathan Pe- ñalosa told the Manila Times.

Peñalosa said Pacquiao would be made to slow down next week to avoid overtraining.

———— Pacquiao has given no specifics on his plans against Horn. The only thing promised by Hall-of-Fame trainer Freddie Roach was that Pacquiao would go for a sure stoppage.

Roach did not have to make any fantastic predictions or bare terrific techniques. Unlike his rival from Australia, Roach doesn’t tinker with robots.
