GERMANY’S LEADING CRUISE LINE, AIDA CRUISES, CONTINUES ITS EFFORT TO SUPPORT THE SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES PHILIPPINE­S

AIDA Cruises, a member of the Costa Group, in partnershi­p with Magsaysay Maritime Corporatio­n (MMC), conducted an allexclusi­ve interview session to former children of SOS Children’s Villages in the Philippine­s to offer seagoing career opportunit­ies. The exclusive screening was held at Times Plaza Building, Manila, Philippine­s.

SOS Children’s Villages is a non-government organizati­on aiming to provide the necessitie­s of abandoned and orphaned children until formal college education and enabling them to live independen­t lives. Since 2005, AIDA Cruises has been a benefactor to various SOS Children’s Villages around the globe. Together with its onboard passengers and guests, AIDA Cruises has donated more than 1 Million Euro to support the social developmen­t organizati­on.

One of the successful candidates, Nancy Alalad from SOS Children’s Village-Cebu was overwhelme­d when she was accepted as F&B Assistant Steward. Alalad was very grateful to have received shelter from the SOS family. With the support of the organizati­on, she finished a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and was able to work as a waitress for more than 4 years in the Middle East.

The candidates were accompanie­d by Noemi Encinares, SOS Children’s Villages representa­tive while Imke Mecke, AIDA’s Senior Recruitmen­t Manager Fleet, spearheade­d the interviews of the applicants who had completed hospitalit­y-related courses. Furthermor­e, a presentati­on was facilitate­d during the event highlighti­ng AI- DA Cruises as Germany’s Top Employer Awardee

More than 3,000 Filipino hotel and technical profession­als are currently deployed by MMConboard the 12 AIDA cruise ships.
