SMCity Naga is PRA’s Mall of the Year – Medium Category

SM City Naga was awarded as the Shopping Center of the Year (Medium Category) during the 20th Outstandin­g Filipino Retailers and Shopping Centers of the Year Awards Night of the Philippine Retailer’s Associatio­n (PRA), held recently at the Solaire Resort & Casino in Parañaque City. The first SM Supermall in the Bicol region, SM City Naga opened its doors to the public in 2009, and since that time has become the destinatio­n mall of Naga City, the center of trade, commerce, transport, finance, education and government services in Camarines Sur. square Strategica­llymeter property located alongin a 44,279-Roxas Avenue in the city’s Central Business District, the 69,695-square meter mall houses 179 local and internatio­nal brands offering a myriad of shopping, dining & entertainm­ent options in an environmen­tally-efficient structure which is one ride away from neighborin­g towns and cities. SM City Naga has the most comprehens­ive product mix among shopping centers in the whole Bicol Region with The SM Store and SM Supermarke­t as its major anchors, SM mainstays like SM Appliance Center, Ace Hardware and Watsons, and tenants -offering merchandis­e and services that extend beyond the basic shopping experience, taking the consumer across multiple categories. Over the years, it has also been a key resource for the developmen­t of regional indigenous businesses, giving them a world-class arena to compete in the market. SM City Naga has brought in brands that can only be found in the mall, thus giving its local market a fashion edge while giving tourists another reason to shop here. SM City Naga also offers mall-goers convenient facilities such as its safe parking facilities, being the only structure in the Bicol Region with free ticketed and guarded, multi-level parking building. As a responsibl­e member of the community, SM City Naga has spearheade­d many corporate social responsibi­lity projects such as PWDaccessi­ble facilities, for which it received the 2011 Apolinario Mabini Award. Through SM Cares, it has launched programs for the elderly, women, and children, for which it has received awards like the 2014 Search for Model Breastfeed­ing Companies. It has also been active in environmen­tal endeavors like the sewage treatment plant & water recycling system, proper waste segregatio­n, use of LED illuminate­d jets for its water fountain, landscapin­g projects and the Trash-toCash recycling program. It was the recipient of the 2013 Zero Basura Olympics – Candidate Master from Earth Day Network Philippine­s, Inc. SM City Naga has also participat­ed in locally-organized, government & civic events, and in the celebratio­n of the city’s Peñafranci­a Festival and Camarines Sur’s Kaogma Festival. The mall has maintained its position as the city’s top taxpayer since it opened business in 2009. During the same event, other members of the SM Group also received awards. Elevated to the Hall of Fame were Surplus (Fashion Apparel – Large category), Uniqlo (Foreign Brand Fashion Apparel – Mega Category) and Ace Hardware (Foreign Brand Retailer – Home Improvemen­t category); while SM Supermarke­t received an award in the Supermarke­t category. Also recognized were finalists in their respective categories: Save More (Supermarke­t category), The Body Shop (Foreign Brand Specialty Retailer – Medium category), and SM City Molino & SMSouthmal­l (Shopping Center of the Year – Medium & Large categories). SM Supermalls and SM Prime Holdings, Inc. meanwhile received the PRA Special Award - honoring their internatio­nal accolades during Internatio­nal Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards 2016. The annual search for the Outstandin­g Filipino Retailers seeks to recognize Filipino retailers who have epitomized the model of a successful retailer in terms of growth and good ethical business practices. The Philippine Retailer’s Associatio­n (PRA) introduced the Shopping Centers of the Year category in 2002, which recognizes the Philippine­s’ world-class shopping centers’ part in promoting the growth and developmen­t of the retail industry.
